Jonathan,i hope this finds you well.i realize making anything from your self, and sending it out into the world can be a lonely, and often black hole facing proposition. It’s hard to know where it lands.i’ve spent the last year living with this book by my side, and i wanted to reach out and thank you for it. my personal monsters aside, that book makes me feel alot less alone.i am on my 8th copy of Narcisa. I keep talking it up to friends, and then giving it to them, and buying a new one, and giving it away, and so on. I have been passing this along to anyone who has a heart, and talking it up to my friends who need some help with theirs. I play a little music, and had a chance to perform with Lydia Lunch last year. I had a visceral reaction to the intro that she wrote to the book, and she was kind enough to open up some of herself and use the part that hooked into my the most in her spoken word contribution over the performance. That was a real gift. I realize that she wrote that intro for some of her own writing before the book, but it is the best introduction to your rabbit hole that could be put forth for the book. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to the revised edition, and have been keeping up on your posts on your site about it. I love to see this progress.hang in there. Take it slow. – Mark, reader

I was totally unprepared for what you had written and what you read.
It was an onslaught of my senses that just rocketed me into the movie theatre of your soul… strong, sensitive, stunning, and wonderfully relentless. It made me want to constantly catch my breath for the next sentence. Your experiences are provocative sweet ambrosia! – John Maldonado, reader

I just finished reading Narcisa for the second time in a year and I just felt compelled to write to you and tell you how brilliant I think it is. Thank you for putting it out into the world and making it available for people to read. Take care, – Kylie Burton, reader

I love that you have written this book for all of us as a witness to things we didn’t want to pay attention to as they were going down. Narcisa is the martyr of lost causes. Narc of the nether world where drug addicts are welcome to loiter and daemons and zombies are good for ambiance. We can only make it past the gate keeper with the right papers. I’m bringing my copy of Narcisa with me. -Jerome, reader

Jonathan Shaw is an author whose writing style mirrors the way he tattoos – heavy handed and like no other I’ve ever encountered. NARCISA Our Lady of Ashes, where he pushes words as though they were ink creating another masterpiece, is destined to leave its readers both in shock and awe. Leading us to the darkest of places most of us would dare go much less dream about,a journey to self-examination!

Narcisa is incredible. I need to read it a third time. The blog is great as well. - Jesse Q.

There is so much color in your work it’s like you still tattoo. Only this time, with literature. I’m so glad to have found your writing, it’s incredible. Especially your descriptions, that’s usually the part in books where I fall asleep but yours is always an exception.. You are a really, really great writer. Happy New Year! -Alaina

Okay, so your book kicks ass. I couldn’t put the shit down, and now I’m pestering random friends, bartenders and cabbies to read it. Seriously good shit. – Alabaster McDougle
Damn bro! that’s some beautiful writing….Narcisa should be proud! : ) -YourMama

I have just discovered you while looking through Myspace, and found your blog – will definetly be reading more and buying Narcisa. I am interested in people who choose to live a bohemian lifestyle and aren’t in it for fame or a false ideas but for the experiences – the pleasure and the pain of living, the courage and audacity to do that which others say you can’t and having faith in yourself. Thanks for being a modern day bohemian who I can relate to and feel like I am not all alone in this wee city of Scotland, that there are others out there, and I have to find them, who understand and who want to lie on the floor at 3am drinking, talking and reading literature…or rambling about life with all it’s beauty and refusing to surrender to the bores who tell me to calm down! without thinking you have gone mad or are trying to be ‘alternative’ or haven’t ’grown-up’ yet- urgh! ….so glad to have found you. I have had so many strange times and lost count of the people I have let down, but the right ones know i love them and try hard but at the same time I will live my life that way I choose….Life as Art is the way to go! All the best in life to you and all your loved ones!! Relish the experiences…never stop… Hayley Marie Cameron.XXX

Hello, Mr. Shaw –
Thank you so much for the add. I’m grateful for the opportunity to let you know how much I enjoyed “Narcisa”. There is probably nothing I can write about your unique voice and spirit that hasn’t been
better-written by experts, and frankly I’m too humbled by the knowledge that you’ll actually be reading this to try. All I can say is thank you for sharing your amazing gifts with all of us — you continue to inspire.

Wishing you happiness, good health and peace –

I finished reading Narcisa yesterday. I thought it was a great book. I could relate to the story. There was a Narcisa in my life back when I was twentyish. Her name was Natalie but she liked to be called by her made up nickname “Alia”. That bitch put me through hell but at the same time she had me completely hooked with her charisma and her pussy. All of these years later I had always wrote her off as a crazy cunt that I hoped I would never see again (kind of). While I was reading your book it dawned on me that maybe she had helped me to grow like “cigano” in the story. It was a revelation. To think that the hell she put me through made me a better, stronger person. I guess I should send that piece of shit a thank you note. Thanks for your words and your thoughts,
Jason

I’m enjoying my trips to the blog. Is it excerpts from the novel? Does the novel exist in more than one form? I know you’ve written about a pro-edited version. Anyhow, just a random benediction from some guy you’ve never heard of. Keep-up the blatant disregard.

Best,

jim

Good story…i always like when bigs things come from nearly nothing…says that sometimes ya can win….    - DJ
